Non-comedogenic oils are oils that are specially formulated to not clog pores. To get a better understanding of the word, lets break it down. “Comedo” is a specific type of pimple or lesion that forms on the skin. As we know, pimples are caused by clogged pores. “Genic” is a root word meaning producing, or causing. And we all know what “Non” means. So, when we put the word together, it refers to oils that “do not cause clogged pores.”

If you have acne driven, or oily skin, it is best to use a product that will not clog your pores. ALOE VERA OIL –

Not only does the oil remain from clogging pores, it has lots of repairing benefits. It treats blemishes and acne scars by lightening hyperpigmentation and repairing damaged skin cells. Argan oil also regulates the production of sebum which further prevents breakouts and clogged pores. The oil contains vitamin E which is great for smoothing out the skin and reducing imperfections. Like aloe vera, argan oil is also easy to find when looking for skincare products. However, always check to read the list of ingredients if you are purchasing a product that contains argan oil to ensure that all ingredients are non-comedogenic.

AVOCADO OIL –

Although avocado oil tends to be a bit pricier than most oils due to avocado shortages and the difficulty of extracting the oil, it does wonders for your skin. This is another non-comedogenic oil that typically works well for all complexions. The oil contains properties that hydrate the skin and locks in moisture for 24-hour protection. Avocado oil can also reduce the appearance of pores removes toxins & impurities from the skin. However, the oil tends to be on the heavier side so it is best to either apply before bedtime or use in combination with another product to lighten the oil.
